Santiago String Quartet
Santiago String Quartet
The Santiago String Quartet was formed at the start of 2008. Its goal is to promote Latin music in the U.K. and abroad. Suzanne Evans and Jonathan Hennessey-Brown were founder members of “Cuarteto Genesis” (Genesis Quartet) in Yucatan, Mexico. It was with this group and living and working in Latin America that the passion for serious contemporary Latin music was born in Jonathan & Suzanne. Cuarteto Genesis discovered repertoire which is rarely or never performed in the United Kingdom. The quartet performed twice with the Grammy award nominated Cuarteto Latinoamericano (Latin American Quartet) and played in the 2008 International Chamber Music Festival in Mexico City’s main theatre “Bellas Artes”
The Santiago String Quartet represents a continuation and extension of the mission which started in Merida, Mexico in March 2005. The Santiago Quartet will collaborate with Mexican and Latin artists and specialise in repertoire from the region.
The quartet will introduce young musicians to the rich repertoire from Latin America through master-classes and workshops. It will also continue to perform works and new commissions of living and young composers.
The Santiago String Quartet is also available for corporate functions and high profile events. The group has an extensive repertoire of Tangos and can perform live with dancers at receptions and provide innovative entertainment for your event to a high level.
